What is a link Exchange?

A link exchange is a service where by you can register your interest in exchanging links with other web sites, there are hundreds of these of varying sophistication and fees

Generally you use their facilities to locate other webmasters who are interested in exchanging reciprocal links

You then must approach the website owner and negotiate the exchange. Some link exchanges will monitor the links to ensure they remain valid but most only check to see that the link back to them is valid, bringing in more customers for them.

If you have followed my other articles you will have heard mention of Google's Chicago update, some of my sites suffered badly in that update losing their first page position in the index.

Link Exchanges were the first to be dropped from my pages. We are now back on page one, whether this is related or not I cannot tell you but I can say I will never consider using a link exchange again
